ImaM Bilal

Bilal Hassan born to Mohammed and Aisha Hassan of Queens, NY. Bilal is a product of homeschool where his mother was his first teacher from Kindergarten-sixth grade. Much of Bilal’s earlier foundation in good adab, understanding of Qur’an, early exposure at young age to the tafseer of Imam Warith D. Mohammed (raa), Uswaa of Prophet Muhammad(saw), community involvement and high academic standards can be accredited to the education he received from home by his mother and father. Bilal is a proud graduate of Clara Muhamamd School of Queens Class of 2010 and the first degree granting HBCU Lincoln University, PA Class of 2014. Bilal is known as the community meteorologist on social media, former weather reporter for A New Day for Al Islam in America and Lincoln first ever full time weather reporter for the radio and television station. As of recent Bilal has worked mainly in the areas of environmental stewardship, environmental and climate justice and citizen science engaging communities across the NYC Tri-State Area. Bilal career in environmental stewardship took off while at Lincoln when he chartered the Environmental Science Club back on campus, appointed to the University Sustainability Board and chosen to represent as a Toyota Green Ambassador. He has served several years in Americorp programs with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. Bilal Hassan is currently, Organics Recovery Coordinator for NYC COMPOST PROJECT, Director of Mentoring for United Black Men of Queens Foundation, Inc. and the Executive Producer at New Freedom XChange, the digital community engagement arm of New FreedomWorks, Inc. He is responsible for providing social and sacred commentary, content development, booking of special guests and social media management.

Imam Bilal Hassan is dedicated to the holistic development of youth, advocating for Muslim Student Associations at HBCUs, and championing environmental justice. His mission is to inspire positive change by fostering personal growth, promoting inclusivity within MSAs, and working towards a sustainable and equitable future for all communities.
